How I Came To Believe

The idea of infinity, my mind cannot grasp it.

My brain which is physically tangible,

cannot imagine a thing

without beginning or end –

merely existing,

without the slightest concept of time.

Those were my insights.

Were.

Until I caught myself looking into your eyes;

I lay thin on the surface,

covering an eternal black depth.

One I could not see the bottom of,

one I could not see the origin of.

Merely existing,

without the slightest concept of time.

And I could spend lifetimes

immersed in this pool

of endless wonder,

only to find myself

exactly where I began.

Description: this is a love poem of how the meaning of infinity was truly understood by seeing the endless depth in the eyes of another and getting lost in them, losing a sense of time and being.
